Pazo de Almuiña

Cuadro de texto: Two basic aims: Quality and Exclusivity
Cuadro de texto: The base of the quality of the wine, it is the grape. In robaliño we only elaborate grape proceeding from our estate, it stamps an exclusive character. The estate is shaped in terraces protected by walls of stone hand placed, producing the effect of natural heat accumulator, detaching in the night the heat absorbed during the day, preventing vegetative stops and allowing an ideal and homogeneous ripeness. The volume of these stones is about 10.000m3, more than 26.000 tons, 3,5 times the weight of the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
Cuadro de texto: From 2.002 we are certified in ISO 9001
Cuadro de texto: The zone of the County of the Tea enjoys a differentiated and particular microclimate, one of the reasons that allow to reach easily unusually high temperatures in Galicia, (maybe the major ones at the whole Rías Baixas), it is the greenhouse effect produced by a convection of the air. The wind that passes over the surrounding mountains, (up to 1.300m), does that the warm air of the valley recirculates without vanishing, provoking a gradual increase of the temperature, up to achieving maxims superior to 40ºC.
Cuadro de texto: Major temperature implies minor assault of plagues, major health of the grape and a more complete ripeness (of average we have 104 days with top temperatures to 30ºC). For it we prune to take part in the Plan of Integrated Production, step immediately previous to the ecological agriculture, limiting to the maximum the employment of fytosanitory agents. An important thermal variations, benefit the appearance of aromatic components in the grape; a very cold winter (without frost) and a very warm summer, facilitate the development of one of the maximum virtues of the Liñar de Vides, its intense varietal aroma.

Cuadro de texto: Liñar de Vides: an unique albariño
Cuadro de texto: The orientation to the Sun of the system of conduction of the vine-stocks, chases an ideal exposed foliate surface, increasing the concentration of sugar, (bigger alcoholic degree after the fermentation), and moderating the indexes of total acidity. To it, contributes as a fundamental way, the hand workings. The relative dampness is influenced by the rivers Miño and Deva, which flow to less of 300m. of distance, providing an ideal environment for the development of the vine-stocks. Besides these rivers have provided the areas of alluvium, with the characteristics and wealth suitable mineral for the agriculture. During the vintage, which is realized of manual form, every box of grape is submitted to the direct inspection by foot of the plant, preventing the entry of clusters with immature grains or with traces of disease; immediately a maceration is realized in cold to optimize the extraction of aromas and a beguins the fermentation at low temperature in order to minimize the loss of components typical of the variety.
Cuadro de texto: The tradition is breathed in any place of Almuiña's country house; there exist documentary references dated back at least to 1.665 d. C. The Country house gets up in the former Royal Way, which was joining the south of Galicia with the interior of the peninsula. It possesses a barn in the interior court dedicated to the dried of the lamprey and numerous tunnels for the channeling of springs; the " Al-münya " in Arabic etymology, means vergel, it indicates the agricultural vocation of the Country house. Even the term “Muin” means vine-stock in Celtic language. In the proximities there exist prehistoric deposits and remains of Roman causeways, along which there passed Brute Decio Junio (138 b.C); from Arbo were coming the famous lampreys that so much were pleasing in the Imperial Rome.

The Pazo is catalogued by Friends' Association of the Country Houses and from 1.991 by the Record of the Galician Patrimony. Category Turgalicia's “Pazo-Hospedería”. The family that was inhabiting the Country house emigrated to Colombia and a descendant managed to turn into a relevant figure during the War of Independence of Colombia. In its shield appears the weapon of illustrious Galicians, as Viéitez, Andrade or Puga. It was inaugurated in 1998 by the President of the “Xunta” Mr. Manuel Fraga Iribarne, to give service of rural tourism, has 10 rooms, common room and a dining room reconstructed in the former stables, in which still it remains a water closet of stone, maximum luxury of the antiquity. To 400 meters the Mourentán's Romanesque bridge is, on the river Deva, in which the inhabitants commanded by the Abbot do Couto, faced in 1.809 the French troops of the General Soul, (Austerlitz hero)t. In the proximities we have a fluvial beach, swimming pools, railway station, the museum of the wine, Templarios vestiges and the Melgaço's medieval villa in Portugal; companies of the area organize excursions of senderism, rafting, equestrian walks, fishing, tours in quad, to see cave art or to visit thermal baths, and multitude of outdoors activities.
